Mission Statement

NASA's comprehensive education program advances the nation's educational goals through expanding and enhancing the scientific and technological competence of students and educators. Our unit at West Virginia State University is a satellite of the NASA IV&V Facility ERC in Fairmont, WV; which is an integral part of NASA's educational outreach. The mission of the ERC is to increase the use of NASA resources, to enhance the teaching and learning of math, science and technology and to innovatively use NASA's accomplishments to help meet the educational needs in West Virginia.

Goal

To provide expertise and facilities to help formal and informal educators access and utilize science, mathematics, geography and technology instructional products aligned with national standards and appropriate state frameworks and based on NASA's unique mission results.

Objectives

  • Demonstrate and facilitate the use of educational technologies.
  • Provide in-service and pre-service training utilizing NASA curriculum support products.
  • Partner with local, state and regional educational organizations to become part of the systemic initiatives in the state.
